Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans; at the moment one definitely commits oneself, providence moves too. - W.A. Murray, 1889
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and magic in it.” - Goethe
It is that time of year when we proclaim our bold plans and resolve to fulfill our dreams, hopes and desires - from improving our health to following our hearts. And as the quotes state above, there is much to be said for proclamations.
Except that the battlefield of change is strewn with false promises and forgotten dreams.
Our resolutions are too often a lone drummer marching forward against our fears and the forces of chaos. A small casualty in the war of change with little risked and little gained.
It’s time to arm our resolutions by recognizing the accomplishments and actions that have successfully brought us to this present moment. Connect the dots and show the impending forces how committed, resilient and successful we are.
Take a few moments and recognize all of the wonderful things you accomplished in 2011 from the big to the small. And get ready for one hell of a new year.
